Effective September 23, 2026. This notice covers the WalkTeaming website, its email list, and the WalkTeaming iPhone and Android apps.
The app reads your steps
WalkTeaming reads one thing from your phone’s health data store — Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android: how many steps you took on a given day. That is the whole list.
A day of at least 2,337 steps qualifies for scoring, and the number of steps decides what that day is worth. Nothing else about the day is read, and nothing else is needed.
What the app does not read
WalkTeaming does not ask for, and cannot see:
- Your location. The app requests no location permission of any kind. There is no GPS, no route, no map and no elevation. It has no idea where you walked.
- Your heart rate.
- Distance, speed or pace.
- Individual workouts or sessions — when you started, when you stopped, how long you were out. The league only ever sees a daily total.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking.
Where your steps go
A league has to be settled somewhere both teams can see. Once you sign in, each qualifying day is sent to the WalkTeaming server as a date and a number of steps. The server works out what the day scored, which day counts for your week, and how your team did.
We do not send any of this to anyone else. It is not sold, not shared and not used for advertising.
A league is played on a scoresheet, and everyone in your match can read it. Your team-mates and the team you are playing that week see your name, your score, your best day of that week, your handicap, your usual day, and the daily step totals of the week being played. That is how a handicap league has always worked — a bowling sheet shows the same — and it is what lets somebody see why a smaller walker is level with a bigger one.
They do not see your email address, any day outside the week being played, or anything at all about where or how you walked. The name they see is the one on the Google account you sign in with; there is no separate display name to fill in.
The copy held on your own phone is excluded from cloud backup.
Deleting your app record
You can delete your record from inside the app. It removes your steps, your scores and your place on a team, from the server and from the phone, at the same time. It cannot be undone.
The steps your phone recorded are not touched. Those are yours, something else recorded them, and WalkTeaming only ever read them. Removing those source records is done in Apple Health or Health Connect, not in WalkTeaming.
Delete your record before uninstalling, or the record stays on the server with nothing attached to it. If that has already happened, email us and it will be removed.
What the website collects
If you joined the earlier email list, we store your email address, signup and confirmation dates, and the consent wording version you accepted. We use this information for setup guidance, feedback check-ins and WalkTeaming updates.
This website does not collect step counts, health records, payment details, location or RunTeaming account information. It has no advertising or analytics trackers.
The earlier email list
The earlier signup form sent a confirmation link from info@walkteaming.com. An address joined the confirmed list only after confirmation. If someone entered your address without permission, ignore the email or use its removal link.
You do not need to join the email list to install WalkTeaming. Current installation steps and availability are shown on the iPhone page and Android page. Existing Google Group memberships from the earlier Android program remain subject to Google’s account and privacy controls.
Storage and security
The website, list, automated email workflow and outgoing mail are operated on our hosted server. Hosting and mail providers process information necessary to run the service and deliver email. We use an essential session cookie to protect forms and short-lived keyed hashes of network addresses to limit abuse. Server access logs may contain IP addresses. These are operational records, not advertising profiles.
Retention and removal
Unconfirmed entries are deleted after seven days. Confirmed entries expire after twelve months. A daily maintenance task removes expired data. Use the removal link in your confirmation email or future updates to remove your live entry sooner. Private backups rotate after seven days; mail and operational logs follow server retention settings.
To request access, correction or deletion, or for privacy questions, email info@walkteaming.com.
Separate products
WalkTeaming and RunTeaming are separate products. Joining this list does not subscribe you to RunTeaming or create an account in either app, and neither app shares your data with the other. We do not sell the list for third-party advertising. No payment or subscription is created by signing up.
Children
WalkTeaming is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has joined the list or the league, email info@walkteaming.com and the record will be removed.
Changes to this notice
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the effective date above moves. The app’s permissions and this notice are meant to describe the same thing; if they ever disagree, treat that as a fault and tell us.
Who is responsible
The WalkTeaming website and app are operated by WalkTeaming LLC, a Colorado company. It is the party responsible for the data described on this page.
